Basic Adventure Tour
Day 1 - Turrialba
Arrive at Juan Santamaria International airport where your friendly guide will be waiting to transport you to your first destination. Turrialba is a sleepy town located on the side of a now semi-dormant volcano. It's also the white water rafting center of the country. Once there we'll settle into our plush hotel and enjoy an authentic Costa Rican meal then it's off to bed, tomorrow is a big day! |

Day 2 & 3 - Rafting the Pacuare River
Wake early for a two-day white water rafting adventure on the Rio Pacuare. We will travel form Turrialba to Tres Equis where we descend through dense jungle into the heart of the Rio Pacuare gorge. This is a special river running through some of the last remaining virgin rain forest in Central America. National Geographic called the Pacuare one of the top three commercial rafting runs in the world. Between the class III + IV rapids, enjoy side hikes to beautiful waterfalls and look for sloths, monkeys and toucans in the jungle around you. Half way down the river we'll pull over at our amazing riverside camp. Sip on a tropical drink or explore the surrounding wilderness while your guides prepare a delicious jungle meal in the fully equipped open-air kitchen. Sleep under the stars or in one of the enclosed cabinas, but sleep well because tomorrow's white water is even bigger than today's. From the take-out we'll take the short drive to the mountain town of La Fortuna and Volcan Arenal, Costa Rica's most active volcano! |
Day 4 - Canyoning
Today we'll head up one of the nearby mountains to do some Canyoning. Once we summit, we'll put on our dry gear and start hiking down one of the many creeks that cascade down the steep slopes. In no time at all, we'll come to our first waterfall, a beautiful 100 footer! The only way down is to repel. Your guides will rig the ropes, give you a good demonstration, then, it's into the abyss for you! You'll descend through the ruggedly beautiful canyon, repelling down one waterfall after another to the vehicles waiting below. After your wild decent, we'll whisk you back to your hotel to get cleaned up for yet another delicious dinner in the shadow of the volcano!! |

Day 5 -
Horseback Riding, Canopy Tour
& Thermal Hotsprings
Today we'll mount up and take a delightful horseback ride through the jungle located near the slopes of the volcano. As we travel through the pristine rain forest we're virtually assured of seeing any number of the forest's exotic inhabitants. Next, I hope you're not afraid of heights because after lunch it's up into the trees for a thrilling canopy tour. See amazing creatures that spend their entire lives in the canopy as you dangle hundreds of feet above the forest floor. But remember, what goes up must come down! We'll zoom down at break-neck speeds using a series of 500ft zip lines!! That evening, soak your weary bones in one of the steaming thermal pools at the resort located at the base of the volcano. Sip on a rum filled coconut at the swim up bar while you watch the volcano explode. Soak long into the evening then settle in for a well deserved night's sleep. |
Day 6 - Playa Hermosa
Today we'll rise early and start heading toward Playa Hermosa, one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches. You'll be basking under the tropical rays on the white sandy beach and swimming in the warm, crystal blue-green Pacific in no time at all. That evening, you can take a delightful walk along the beach and watch the sun as it slowly descends into the sea. Then, it's back to the hotel to get cleaned up for dinner and maybe a night on the town! |

Day 7 - Sea Kayaking & Snorkeling
Today we'll start the day with a sea kayaking trip along the beautiful pristine shoreline. You may see dolphins, sea turtles and if you're very lucky maybe even a humpback whale. We'll stop for a bit of lunch on one of the many deserted beaches accessible only by the sea. While there we'll do some snorkeling and get up-close-and-personal with the incredibly beautiful tropical fishes that call this paradise home. |
Day 8 - Beach & Sunset Sailing
Today you can spend on the beach just working on your tan or engaging in one of the many activities Playa Hermosa has to offer. That evening we'll take an incredible sunset sail along the coast. We'll see dolphins, turtles and maybe a whale or two but mostly you'll be awed by the spectacular sunset as the sun slowly dips into the warm blue-green Pacific.

Day 9 - Adios
After breakfast, depart for the airport where you'll return home with great memories of a perfect tropical vacation. |
