High Adventure Add-On Adventure
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrive at Juan Santamaria International airport where your friendly guide will be waiting to transport you to your first destination. Turrialba is a sleepy town located on the side of a now semi-dormant volcano. It's also the white water rafting center of the country. Once there we'll settle into our plush hotel and enjoy an authentic Costa Rican meal then it's off to bed, tomorrow is a big day! |
Buena Vista Hotel - Beautiful Boutique Hotel Loactedin the Mountains above San Jose. |

You just have to take that first step!!
|
Day 2 - Canyoning Turrialba Volcano
& Aquarries Waterfall Hike
Today we'll take the short drive to Turrialba. Turrialba is a sleepy town located on the side of a now semi-dormant volcano. It's also the white water rafting center of the country. We'll start our adventure with a Canyoning trip on the slopes of the Volcano. The only way down is to repel. Your guides will rig the ropes, give you a good demonstration, then, it's into the abyss for you! You'll descend through the ruggedly beautiful canyon, repelling down one waterfall after another to the vehicles waiting below. Then, for those of you with some energy left to burn, we do a short hike to Aquarries Waterfall for a delightfully refreshing dip to cool off before dinner. |
Day 3 - Rafting the Rio Pacuare
Wake early for a one-day white water rafting adventure on the Rio Pacuare. We will travel form Turrialba to Tres Equis where we descend through dense jungle into the heart of the Rio Pacuare gorge. This is a special river running through the last remaining virgin rain forest in Central America. National Geographic called the Pacuare one of the top two commercial rafting runs in the world. Between the class III + IV rapids, enjoy side hikes to beautiful waterfalls and look for sloths and toucans in the jungle around you. Half way down we'll pull over for a gourmet river lunch and maybe a quick riverside nap. Then, it's back to work, we've got some more big rapids to conquer. From the take-out we'll take the short drive to La Fortuna, home to Costa Rica's most active Volcano - Volcan Arenal!! |
Wow! Thats not something you see every day! |
Arenal Hanging Bridges offers some of the best ecofriendly wildlife viewing in Costa Rica. |
Day 4 - Hanging Bridges
Arenal Hanging Bridges is one the most beautiful environmental friendly projects in Costa Rica. Located in front of the Arenal Volcano, within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, the trails and bridges of this project will bring you as close as you could ever hope to get to the birds, the flowers and the lush vegetation of the primary rainforest. Walk right into the forest, thanks to the imposing hanging bridges overlooking the canopy and our easy, safe and beautiful trails with views of the Volcano.
Optional Activity - Thermal Hotsprings $45pp

Day 5 - Canopy Tour
Now, I hope you're not afraid of heights because after breakfast, it's up into the trees for a thrilling canopy tour. See amazing creatures that spend their entire lives in the canopy as you dangle hundreds of feet above the forest floor. But remember, what goes up must come down! We'll zoom down at break-neck speeds using a series of 300ft zip lines!! That evening just kick back with a nice cocktail watch the Volcano do its thing... |
Nothing beats flying above the rainforest on the slopes of an active Volcano... |
You'll experience the Volcano from above, below and now from underneath! |
Day 6 - Venado Caves
Today we'll start with a spelunking trip deep into the bowels of the Volcano. You'll see a beautiful assortment of stalactites and stalagmites and a ton of exotic creatures that spend their entire lives down under! After the caving we'll get cleaned up and start making our way back to San Jose. Once we arrive your guide will discuss the various options for the evening. |
Day 7 - Adios
After breakfast, depart for the airport where you'll return home with great memories of a perfect tropical vacation.
