Climate

Costa Rica is an equatorial, tropical country so it doesn't have the four seasons we're used to in the temperate regions. Costa Rica has two seasons: the wet and the dry.

The dry season (summer) typically lasts from late December to around April. The dry season will see weeks without rain in some areas. The rivers tend to run lower at this time of year with the lowest water seen near mid April.

The rest of the year (winter) tends to be on the damp side. Temperatures tend to remain relatively consistent throughout the year with a comfortable 76 degrees being the average. Allthough known as the wet time of year that doesn't mean it doesn't rain the whole time. Typically a rain shower will happen for a few hours every afternoon. November and early December usually see the highest water in the rivers and streams.
