Pacific Ocean
The best dive sites on the Pacific side are
located off shore at the Cano, Bat, and Catalina islands.
The islands require a short boat ride from the mainland in
which you’re likely to see several species of dolphin
frolicking along side the boat. Once you take the plunge,
aside from the hundreds of tropical fish, you likely see turtles,
octopus, sea horses, and several species of eels. You’ll
also see manta rays, mobula rays, cow-nosed rays, and eagle
rays, sometimes in schools numbering in the thousands. The
are usually several shark species around including white tip
sharks, bull sharks, tiger sharks and if you are really lucky
you may see a giant whale shark – the biggest fish in
the world! There are several mammalian species that call these
waters home. These include the mighty humpback whale, orcas,
pilot whales, false killer whales, spotted, bottle nosed and
spinner dolphins. Whew!!!
