Day 1 – Arrive in San Jose

Today you’ll arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose where your friendly Green Frog Adventures Guide will be waiting to transport you to your first exotic destination. From the airport we’ll take the short drive up into the mountains overlooking San Jose to our lovely hotel for the evening. Once we arrive you can enjoy an authentic Costa Rican meal as you gaze out at the San Jose Valley far below.

Day 2 – Rio Celeste

Today we’ll head north from San Jose to the Guanacaste region and our amazing nature lodge.

The lodge is situated in its own preserve and has a multitude of trails surrounding the hotel offering spectacular photo-ops right outside your room.

Day 3 – Rio Celeste

Legend has it that when the Gods were done painting the sky, they washed their brushes in the river that now bears the name Rio Celeste (or the Light Blue River).

We’ll make the mile and a half trek to the river where you can spend as long as you like photographing the river and the surrounding rainforest.

Day 4 – Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge

Today we’ll start the day with a wildlife float trip through the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge.

You’ll see hundreds tropical bird species, monkeys, sloths, and reptiles of all sorts, including caimans and huge iguanas, and tons of other exotic creatures.

This is truly one of the most pristine and savagely beautiful places on earth.

Day 5 – Corcovado National Park

Today we’ll take the quick flight to Corcovado, arguably the most biodiverse place on earth!

Located on the Osa Peninsula, Corcovado National Park is home to the most unspoiled costal rain forest in Central America.

With over 400 bird species, 140 mammals, and an amazing 500 tree species, this park has more biodiversity than most countries, including the entire United States!

Day 6 & 7 – Corcovado

Our lovely lodge for the next few days has dozens of trails coursing through the surrounding rainforest.

You can spend the next two day photographing all of the amazing creatures and exotic plants that call this paradise home.

Day 8 – Cerro Muerte

Today, we’ll start making our way to one of the best birding sites in Costa Rica — we’ll start making our way up into the Talamanca Mountain Range to our beautiful lodge situated in a lovely valley surrounded by mountains well over 10,000 feet in altitude. The hotel grounds and the surrounding trail system attract a plethora of tropical birds including the resplendent quetzal, the Costa Rican pygmy owl, and hundreds more…

Day 9 – Savegre Valley

Today is yours to wander the many trails that spread out across the hotel’s massive preserve.

This amazing alpine forest will definitely add to your birding life-list!

Day 10 – Adios!

We’ll provide a private shuttle that will take you directly from your hotel to the passenger drop-off at the airport.
